EXTRA! EXTRA! CONSERVATIVE COLUMNIST CALLS BUSH A PUPPET!

Subject: CONSERVATIVE ARTICLE ABOUT BUSHY TAIL.

IMPORTANT ARTICLE!!!!!!!!!!

The following opinion piece by conservative columnist, Charley Reese is worth reading and circulating. Reese is a columnist for the King Features Syndicate. He turns out three columns a week and is known as a staunchly committed conservative. I guess that's why this column is causing such a stir. He apparently took a good hard look at Bush & Co.'s record vs. rhetoric, and came to some inevitable conclusions.

VOTE FOR A MAN, NOT A PUPPET
by Charley Reese

Americans should realize that if they vote for President Bush's re-election, they are really voting for the architects of war - Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz and the rest of that cabal of neoconservative ideologues and their corporate backers.

I have sadly come to the conclusion that President Bush is merely a frontman, an empty suit, who is manipulated by the people in his administration. Bush has the most dangerously simplistic view of the world of any president in my memory.

It's no wonder the president avoids press conferences like the plague. Take away his cue cards and he can barely talk. Americans should be embarrassed that an Arab king (Abdullah of Jordan) spoke more fluently
and articulately in English than our own president at their joint press conference recently.

John Kerry is at least an educated man, well-read, who knows how to think and who knows that the world is a great deal more complex than Bush's comic-book world of American heroes and foreign evildoers. It's
unfortunate that in our poorly educated country, Kerry's very intelligence and refusal to adopt simplistic slogans
might doom his presidential election efforts.

But Thomas Jefferson said it well, as he did so often, when he observed that people who expect to be ignorant and free expect what never was and never will be.

People who think of themselves as conservatives will really display their stupidity, as I did in the last election, by voting for Bush. Bush is as far from being a conservative as you can get. Well, he fooled me once, but he won't fool me twice.

It is not at all conservative to balloon government spending, to vastly increase the power of government, to show contempt for the Constitution and the rule of law, or to tell people that foreign outsourcing of American jobs is good for them, that giant fiscal and trade deficits don't matter, and that people should not know what
their government is doing. Bush is the most prone-to-classify, the most secretive president in the 20th century. His administration leans dangerously toward the authoritarian.

It's no wonder that the Justice Department has convicted a few Arab-Americans of supporting terrorism. What would you do if you found yourself arrested and a federal prosecutor whispers in your ear that either you can plea-bargain this or the president will designate you an enemy combatant and you'll be held incommunicado for the duration?

This election really is important, not only for domestic reasons, but because Bush's foreign policy has been a dangerous disaster. He's almost restarted the Cold War with Russia and the nuclear arms race. America is not only hated in the Middle East, but it has few friends anywhere in the world thanks to the arrogance and ineptness of the Bush administration. Don't forget, a scientific poll of Europeans found us, Israel, North Korea and Iran as the greatest threats to world peace.

I will swallow a lot of petty policy differences with Kerry to get a man in the White House with brains enough not to blow up the world and us with it. Go to Kerry's Web site and read some of the magazine profiles on him. You'll find that there is a great deal more to Kerry than the GOP attack dogs would have you believe.

Besides, it would be fun to have a president who plays hockey, windsurfs, ride motorcycles, plays the guitar, writes poetry and speaks French. It would be good to have a man in the White House who has killed people face to face. Killing people has a sobering effect on a man and dispels all illusions about war.  ##

THE ONE-DROP RULE

Subject: Barack Obama and the OneDropRule
Date: Fri, 27 Aug 2004 11:58:40 -0700
From: "Charles Michael Byrd" chasbyrd@rcn.com
To: black@bigmagic.com

Ever wonder why the media consistently refers to Democratic Senatorial candidate and mulatto Barack Obama as "black," even though his mom is "white." Answer: the one-drop rule.

The notion that one-drop of "black" blood (African ancestry) made you 100% "black" and nothing else was an unevenly applied social custom during the slavery period. The key phrase is unevenly applied as, in some  \states, one could petition the local courts to declare one to be "officially white." Racist state legislatures, however, in an effort to preserve the purity of the white "race," codified one-drop ideology into law, along with prohibitions against interracial marriage, during the Jim Crow era of the early 20th century.

Though the United States Supreme Court effectively struck down the one-drop rule along with remaining state prohibitions against miscegenation (interracial marriage) with its 1967 decision "Loving vs. Virginia," the one-drop mentality persists. Today, minority groups deem it necessary to continue counting someone who is, for example, part "black" as all "black" for the purpose of keeping the official head count of that particular "racial" group as artificially high as possible.

In academic circles, one-drop is also known as social hypodescent or the inheritance of only the lowest status racial category of one's ancestors.

A great place to engage in scholarly discussion of all this is the OneDropRule -- History of the U.S. "Race" Notion Yahoo! Group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OneDropRule .

See you there!

Click here: The Smoking Gun: Doofy Dubya: Only In America Seeing double! If George W. Bush ends up in the White House, The Smoking Gun would like to be the first web outfit to formally offer Dubya an artifact for his future presidential library. The Republican's wackyperformance in this 1992 wedding video excerpt--shot years after Bushwent cold turkey in July 1986--needs to be preserved for future generations. The video was shot at the August 29, 1992 wedding of Jamie Weiss, the daughter of Dubya's close friends Mike and Nancy
Weiss. Mike, a Lubbock, Texas lawyer and CPA, was Bush's campaign chairman during his first political race (an unsuccessful 1978 congressional bid) and was one of the Texas governor's earliest political appointments. Nancy, also a Bush appointee, had a prime speaking slot on the final night of the Republican convention. She told the crowd, "I wish you could see how he reaches out to people, teasing those who can take it and protecting those who can't." Indeed, what a teaser! When cameraman T. Patrick Murray filmed Bush during the wedding reception at a Lubbock country club, the future governor took some rambling--and we presume good-natured--swipes at the newlyweds, the bride's parents, and her brother Kelly (Bush was being quizzed by a member of the bridal party). We love the part where teetotaler George actually disses two of the Weisses for supposedly not drinking or smoking. And as for those weird Don King-like "only in America" cracks--not to mention what's in that glass--your guess is as good as TSG's. .    ##

Dear Al,

Our friend John Sinclair visited us yesterday evening in Rotterdam, we had a great time discussing music and politics, as usual. For a time now I (artist for love & web designer for money), have been doing my political
thingy on the internet here and there since 9/11 to get the attention of the Dutch (as you know, US coalition partner in Iraq), also since the majority of the Dutch people is against our presence in Iraq (as in Spain). John told me to have a look at your website.

Feel free to publicize this column I wrote in April 2003: http://www.sea-urchin.net/radiobaghdad/fascism.html  called The New Fascist Doctrine. It sort of sums up the path to the Iraq invasion. Else, feel free to make a link to http://www.sea-urchin.net/radiobaghdad/  if you think it's worthwhile.

Perhaps this might be interesting for you, too: I made a tiny political victory a couple of months ago, though it started as a joke: a photoshop thingy of mine ended up on the front page of a big national newspaper (De
Volkskrant). Artists were asked for proposals for a statue for the Dutch parliament. I gave them one, made in half an hour. This was at the time that Dutch troops were in Iraq and the Abu Grahib pictures got out. Newspaper clipping: http://www.xs4all.nl/~cuckoo/propagandada/volkskrant.jpg Larger image:
http://www.xs4all.nl/~cuckoo/propagandada/bless.jpg The piedestal is taken from the statue of liberty... It
caused some consternation in the government. Great, I made my point!

Keep up the good work,

MICKEY COHEN AND BOBBY DRISCOLL

Subject: Mickey Cohen, a cohort and Bobby Driscoll
Date: Mon, 4 Oct 2004 09:22:53 -0400
From: bkohatl@hotmail.com
To: info@blacklistedjournalist.com

I am writing a book about Bobby Driscoll. Bobby won an Oscar at age 13 for a film he made when was 10 that came very close to being a movie no one ever saw.

"The Window" was filmed on location in New York City in 1947. Howard Hughes bought RKO Studios in the spring of 1948. One of his first acts was to fire studio head Dore Schary because he was a New Deal Democrat. One of his second acts was to shelve "The Window" for nearly two years because he thought the movie was "crap."  In 1949, RKO was short of films to release, so hold-over exec's lobbied to get "The Window" released. Hughes relented and "The Window" became a sensation and RKO's biggest hit of the year.

Bobby Driscoll is remarkable, brilliant actor. "The Window" belongs to Bobby Driscoll. ---Bosley Crowther film critic of The New York Times

When he was a teenager Bobby developed a severe of acne. His brilliant career went into total eclipse. Eventually he developed a drug problem. In 1957, he lived in a monthly hotel in Hollywood (off Orange Avenue about a block south of The Roosevelt) owned by a Mickey Cohen associate named Watson. It was a miserable two years. These are lost years and I am trying desperately to find info about that time and place and
Bobby's life there. Bobby and Mr. Watson did not get along. Bobby didn't get along with his "moll" Ronnie.
All I know is that Mr. Watson was associated with Mickey and Jack "The Enforcer" Whalen.

Any help or suggested sources would be much appreciated

Thank You,

LENNON'S FIRST POT PARTY? OBVIOUSLY, HE WAS TOO DRUNK TO GET HIGH ON LOUSY ENGLISH GRASS

Lennon's First Pot Party
Who introduced John Lennon to marijuana in the Sixties?
by Cherri Gilham

The truth about John's first pot party, as eyewitness Cherri Gilham recalls, didn't involve Bob Dylan, but a blonde and a blue movie.

I don't wish to be a killjoy, but a brilliant, authoritative new book on the life of Bob Dylan by Clinton Heylin has a flaw in it. Heylin credits Dylan with having introduced the Beatles to marijuana in August 1964. Apparently Dylan dropped in on the Fab Four in their New York hotel, and not finding any "cheap wine," his preference over the champagne on offer, he rolled a joint. Paul McCartney is quoted as saying he "discovered the meaning of life that evening" and it has thus gone down in Dylan legend that that was the moment the Beatles first got high on weed.

It might have been a first for Macca, but I know for certain that it wasn't for John Lennon. Lennon took his first puff or two of pot a few months earlier; in the spring of "64, in a basement flat in Bayswater. Not only did
he smoke his first joint, or 'reefer," as it was called then, but he also threw up. I know this because I was there.

I was a Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald fan then, and I didn't "get? the Beatles until Sgt. Pepper three years later, so meeting John Lennon did not have the same appeal for me as the memory of it does today. But even I, who was not enamoured, knew that it was a seminal moment to see Lennon sick in the bath after his first smoke. There had been so much made of the Beatles? clean-cut image, those "loveable mopheads." Beatlemania had swept Europe the previous autumn and the Beatles had been top of the album charts for 51
consecutive weeks with their first album, Please Please Me.

They had had a clutch of No. 1 singles and by the end of "63 their single, She Loves You, was the biggest-selling single of all time in the UK. In February "64, just before I met John Lennon, the Beatles conquered the US with 10,000 screaming fans awaiting their arrival at JFK airport. At the end of March "64 they had the awe-inspiring top five slots on the Billboard charts with Can't Buy Me Love, Twist and Shout, She Loves You, I Want to Hold Your Hand, and Please Please Me. In March they were filming A Hard Day's Night.

How John and Cynthia came to be in that flat in Palace Court I do not know. It belonged to a couple called Pat and Tony Shaw. Pat was an incredibly beautiful 28-year-old hourglass blonde and Tony was a portly,
bearded, jovial man in his fifties with a penchant for watching his "wife? in bed with other men. I lived around the corner in Clanricarde Gardens and a few weeks before had been invited to a beatnik party a few doors
along from my flat. I braved it and went alone.

The place was full of scruffy people sitting around on the floor, the air thick with smoke and dope. I felt out of my depth, a bit wary, and was about to leave when this stunning threesome stepped into the halo of light in the
hallway. A beautiful blonde in a shimmering silver dress flanked by two handsome men with glittering blue eyes and wearing identical Prince of Wales check suits. To my astonishment, one of the men asked me to dance. His name, so he told me, was Baron Pierre Cervello, and he was engaged, he later told me, to Mandy Rice-Davies, who was involved in the then breaking Profumo scandal. Over the next few months Pierre would introduce me to an underlife in London which was both breathtakingly sordid and wondrous at the same time. Orgies with film stars and nobility and layers of willing girls. I was an innocent 18-year-old, fresh out of virginity, and I assumed that as I was at what appeared to be the epicentre of fashionable London, then it was
absolutely the fashionable thing to do -- to swing.

Everybody, it seemed, was a swinger. For the record, I only ever participated with Pierre...well I would say that, wouldn't I? But it was true, for I did, along with dozens of other women, totally adore him, and was completely in his thrall.

The gorgeous blond at this beatnik party that night was Pam and the other devilishly handsome lothario was a French hairdresser called Raphael de Rosa, who was in partnership with Leonard, who later became Twiggy's
hairdresser. (They were Raphael and Leonard, until Raphael did a bunk with the takings one day). Falling in behind them, quite inconspicuously, was Tony. Pierre whisked me off from that party to my first quasi-public
coupling round at Pam and Tony's. We watched a blue film (my first), then Pierre seduced me on the sofa and Pam and Raphael bonked in the bedroom with Tony blithely looking on. I don't think any doors ever closed
in that flat.

Somehow the Lennons stumbled into this den of iniquity in or around March 1964. I received a phone call at about 9 p.m. from Pierre saying he would be collecting me in 15 minutes to go to a party. We fetched up
at Palace Court at the same time as the Shaws were climbing out of a car with Cynthia and John Lennon, who was already a bit sozzled. Inside, I remember Cynthia drinking only water, but John and Tony had Scotch. Pierre never drank, as far as I knew. I didn't like Scotch but that's all there was, so Tony put a Coca-Cola in it. Funny the things you remember and those you forget.

Tony and John were laughing and joking and Pat was slyly acting provocatively around the star. Pierre whispered to me that the plan was to get John Lennon into bed with Pat and he would have to distract Cynthia. I was wondering if Pierre was going to try to inveigle Cynthia into a 'situation? with him. I remember pleading with him not to leave me with Tony, although I don't think that Tony was inclined towards me. He got his
rocks off in other ways.

Tony produced a huge reefer, and although 37 years later I cannot recall the conversation, it was understood that Lennon hadn't tried it before. But the cool thing to do was just to take it when it was passed to you. And so he did. I can remember thinking that Cynthia, who was very subdued, was unhappy that John wanted to smoke the dope.

"Don't have any more," she said when Tony poured yet another drink for Lennon. I felt sorry for Cynthia because she plainly didn't want to be there and had no idea, as far as I could tell, what the others had up their
sleeves.

We seemed to drift into the bedroom and the inevitable blue film was put on the projector. In case you're wondering we all still had our clothes on, although I have a picture in my mind of Pat in black bra and pants on the bed talking to John at some point. John was giggling and swaying around, and suddenly he staggered into the bathroom which was off the bedroom, and was puking into the white enamel bath.

Cynthia was quickly by his side, holding on to his juddering shoulders as he retched and heaved. It was awful. The four of us looked on in quiet bemusement. It was embarrassing to watch this huge pop phenomenon, who was a god to tens of thousands of fans, being a basic human being. Like catching the queen on a Portaloo. But we couldn't tear our eyes away.

I thought, "Wow...John Lennon being sick in the bath...imagine." They left pretty hurriedly after that, and Pierre took me home in a sulk.

You know what they say about the Sixties. That if you remember it you weren't 'there." Most of those who were 'there? are not here today to tell it. So in that respect I'm rather glad I wasn't.

Dear Mr. Aronowitz,
Upon doing my own research on this internet, I came across your column about Daniel Rakowitz, Max Cantor, and the death of Monica Beerle. I have read numerous articles on this subject by Sarah Ferguson in both the Village Voice and also the one she wrote for Esquire some years ago. My interest in this subject is strictly personal, and I have no desire to publish and information that I might acquire. I am the sister of Carl Schober, the man who Max Cantor spoke of who was murdered in Washington Courthouse, on Aug 17, 1991. To the best of my knowledge, his murder has not been solved to this date. I, personally, have information about the events that occurred leading up to and following Monica Beerle's death, but, unfortunately, I have failed to be able to tie it in to my brother's death. The only explanation that I have is that he may have known information that proved to be dangerous to his health...how it ties in I have not been able to explain. I do know that Max Cantor knew my brother. He had my brother's name in his address book with my parent's phone number, and my parents recieved a phone call from the NYPD after Max Cantor was found dead...which was just about 2 months after my brother's death. Apparently the NYPD thought there might have been a tie in. And when my brother Car's best friend was arrested in Easton Pa some months later, the NYPD also questioned her about a possible tie in to Beerle's murder. Please understand, my interest in this is completely personal, in that I feel the need to know what happened to my brother; why he was murdered. If you have any information that might help me (the Columbus, Ohio cops seem to feel he was just a vagrant, not worthy of investigating), I would greatly appreciate any communication from you. Thank you for your time, and please keep up the wonderful writing.

Most Sincerely,
Holly Schober-Jack  ##
